smoke and toxic products of combustion produce illness and injury through a variety of mechanism:
Responding to the need for a standardized, scientific approach for this group of emergency department
patients, the United States Fire Administration (USFA), Federal Emergency Management Agency)
(FEMA) awarded a contract to the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) to develop a1
algorithm to assist the emergency physician in the evaluation and treatment of smoke inhalation victims
