Description

The Federal Fire Council has issued this document to help
in salvaging and restoring records damaged by fire or water. Although the repair of charred and burned records are discussed, emphasis is placed on the water damage aspects. Thus, the usefulness of this document has been broadened because records are frequently damaged by water as a result of floods, hurricanes, broken pipes, and the like. We are indebted to the members of the Federal Fire Council's Committee on Protection of Records for their work. They have made a significant contribution to the Federal establishment by preparing this document.
